Q&A About the Certificate of Still Birth NEW
Before you have your baby: What to Expect
According to California Health & Safety Code, the Public Health Department is responsible to register all births and deaths in Santa Clara County. Through the Vital Records and Registration Program, staff reviews and registers birth and death records and issues birth and death certificates from 2007 to the present. (Older certificates are available at Office of the Clerk-Recorder or 408-299-2481). For a certified or informational copy of a recent birth or death certificate, come to our office for same-day service or mail in an application.
We are open to the public from 9am - 4pm Monday through Friday; and closed for county-observed holidays. There are no appointments needed for same-day service -- just walk-in and receive certificates in about 5-15 minutes. We are open through the lunch hour, but the best time to come is in the morning.
